Our custom molecular serotyping microarrays were developed as a genomics-based tool to dissect the pathogens present in complex clinical samples. A key advantage of this technology was the sensitive detection of multiple serotype carriage and estimating the relative abundance of each serotype. A number of simultaneous analyses have been incorporated in the designs available for each pathogen:
ArraySero: molecular serotyping by combination of cps genes detected in sample
AbR: presence of gene-mediated antimicrobial resistance markers or key SNPs
PathID: detection of co-colonisers or discrimination of closely related species
ArrayCGH: genotyping based on genome backbone to determine genomic lineage
